Cavan C. Reilly, director, has expertise in the design and implementation of clinical research with a focus on clinical trials.

Dr. Reilly currently serves as the PI of a data coordinating center focused on promoting access to safe blood for transfusion in Sub-Saharan Africa through implementation science projects in Ghana, Malawi and Kenya (BLOODSAFE), is the PI of the data coordinating center for an observational study of HIV in Liberia, is the PI of a data coordinating center for an observational study of COVID-19 in Liberia, is the primary statistician for an international clinical trial for COVID-19 therapeutics, and serves on multiple DSMBs, including serving as DSMB chair for the NHLBI's Heart, Lung, and Blood Co-morbiditieS Implementation Models in People Living with HIV (HLB-SIMPLe) initiative in low and middle income countries.

Erika S. Helgeson, associate director, has expertise in the design, management, and analysis of clinical trials and epidemiological studies.

Dr. Helgeson currently serves as the contact PI of the biostatistical research center for a nationwide consortium studying neurocognitive complications of pediatric type-1 diabetes. She leads data coordinating centers (DCCs) in the area of oral health, including an observational study of oral outcomes after head and neck cancer (ORARAD II) and a clinical trial of improved oral hygiene for reducing the risk of infective endocarditis (PIE-B). She also has led DCCs in the area of lung health (SiVent and BLOCK2) and currently leads the DCC for a clinical trial on the use of high-flow nasal therapy for COPD patients (HIFLO-COPD).
